SHYG Life Teen

St. Helen's Youth Group (SHYG) is a group for high school students (grades 9-12) looking to grow as a Catholic community. The St. Helen's Youth Group strives to serve our teens and guide them as they seek to grow in their relationship with God and journey through their Catholic faith. We strive to teach youth about the values and lessons of the Catholic Church. Our goal is for all SHYG youth members to deepen their love of God and the Catholic faith. 

In 2019, the SHYG began using the Life Teen curriculum and model. The Life Teen model provides leaders with resources aligned with Catholic Church teachings and doctrines, designed to engage and teach young teens about the Catholic faith in ways they can relate to. The St. Helen's Youth Group conducts fundraisers to attend a Steubenville Conference in the summer. Steubenville Conferences are Catholic youth conferences designed to empower and encourage the teens to live as disciples of Jesus. Steubenville Conferences reinforce our Catholic values and are designed specifically for young Catholic teens. Through keynote speakers and the celebration of the Blessed Sacrament, thousands of teens gather to grow in a closer relationship with God. Please view the video below on Steubenville Conferences. 

Our Purpose

In our youth group, we want to guide young Catholic teens in developing a relationship with God, building a community within their faith, and living out the values of the Catholic faith in everyday life. We incorporate the Life Teen curriculum, praise and worship, and eucharistic adoration of the Blessed Sacrament to fulfill our goal of engaging them in their encounter with Christ. 

Our Goals 

• Develop an everlasting relationship with God through prayer, the blessed sacraments, and holy scripture.
• Build relationships within our group, church, and community through service and involvement.
• Create a strong foundation for the future of our Catholic faith.
